We’ll explore simple, effective, and artful hand stitching techniques for minor repairs on denim . Whether you’re just starting or have experience with hand stitching, this session is great for anyone interested in combining functionality and creativity in their repairs.
In this 4 hour workshop, you will:
Learn about various mending materials and how they are used in practice
Get hands-on instruction in Sashiko style stitching to complete mends in a visible, mindful manner.
Discover techniques for mending specific areas like crotch/butt patching, threadbare spots, torn pockets, and worn knees.
Have the opportunity to strategize about and possibly start your specific repairs with guidance.

You’ll create a mending sampler to take home, giving you the skills to tackle your own mending projects with ease. Feel free to bring items needing repair! We'll be covering a lot of content in class, with the first half being dedicated to skill building. We’ll set aside time in the last half to assess and strategize ways to repair and restore your clothing with care and confidence using the techniques you learned in class, and you'll have the opportunity to begin mending your own garments right there in the workshop setting!
About Your Instructor:
Adie is a local independent sewist, embroidery artist, and maker of thready things. She’s been creating with needle and thread since childhood and is inspired by weird dreams and moods, her backyard, vintage fabric, botanical illustrations, and her journey in motherhood.
