Beginner Clay Class: Soft Slab Mugs

$75.00

Join Jess for a fun afternoon turning a boring lump of clay into a super cool mug or two. This class is geared toward beginners but all are welcome. We will be using soft slabs and a variety of handbuilding techniques. You will come out with a general understanding of the ceramic process and two handmade clay mugs. Work will be fired and finished in a glaze of your choice and ready for pickup approximately two weeks after the class.

What you will learn:

  • clay basics - types of clay and material properties

  • rolling and shaping slabs

  • adding texture and decorating your pieces

  • ways of forming soft slabs & building volume

  • how to attach sturdy and comfortable handles

  • info about safety, glazing and kiln firing

What to bring:

We got you covered. All tools, clay, glazes and firings are provided, but maybe wear clothing you don’t mind getting a little dirty.

About your Instructor:
